Summer movies are at their worst since 1997 according to box office sales, and much of this is because of the lack of new ideas coming from Hollywood. This summer has been bad, real bad, for Hollywood and rest of the crew that helps to give us some entertainment to watch on our screens.
Ticket sales in the United States and Canada are expected to total roughly $3.9 billion between the first weekend in May through the end of August, a 15 percent decline from the same stretch last year, the New York Times reports.
Some of it could be because we are not seeing new ideas, just sequel upon sequel, and so on, and so forth. If you just look at the comic movies, they seem to attribute for most of the movies anymore. I contend that people are getting bored of Hollywood just pumping out movie after movie of comic books, which really have a similar theme.
You have a group of people, or a person, who has powers that most humans do not. Then out of nowhere, some danger threatens Earth, and this group of people or this person needs to save Earth. I have said it before, but Hollywood in my opinion is playing itself out. The same theme, the same story, over and over.
We need some fresh ideas, we need the comic book movies to take a break, and we need some new themes to watch and enjoy. People are getting so used to the constant comic style movie, that it has lost its flame in my opinion. If you look at the top movies of 2014 so far, you can see nearly half deal directly with comic books.
